Roxie Fransway-Greening: Clinical Thermographer

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a local educator who has been in the teaching field for eight years. My passion began with high school-aged children and has expanded over the years to include adults. My interests are nature photography (see some of my photos on Facebook), culinary play, health and wellness, being active outdoors, animals,  quantum physics and many other areas. My curiosity about life and people keeps me young at heart.

What service or product do you offer?

Clinical thermography is my most recent adventure. It involves a specialized infra red camera that looks for abnormal heat patterns in the body. It is all about early detection. While popular for breast health screening, my company, Radiant Health Imaging specialize in full body work for men or women. The first sign in the body that something is wrong is a temperature. Thermography works by detecting those physiological and functional changes years before other methods (which may result in invasive procedures) without the harmful effects of radiation. It is also cost effective, private and there is no physical contact.

What got you involved in your business and how long have you been involved?

I had my first breast scan and thought, I have to learn how to do this. An opportunity came in March of 2010 and so I jumped at the chance to do some intensive training with the owner of Radiant Health Imaging, Pam Ryerse. It has been one of the most rewarding ventures I have been involved in.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

After I carefully take the images, I love to help put together the pieces of people’s health history so that the thermologist can interpret the scans and give the client the direction to correct the pain or inflammation before it results in an invasive procedure to correct a problem. I want to educate people to the idea that there are other possibilities or options.

How would I go about obtaining your services or products?

You may make an appointment by calling either call our toll-free number at 866-240-9659 or our Eau Claire office number at 715-318-4250.

Do you have an office or storefront? If so, what are the hours the public is welcome? Radiant Health Imaging has an Eau Claire office at 2722 London Road in the Center for Healing Arts. Also, I am currently serving satellite offices in Appleton, Green Bay, and Shell Lake. See our website at www.radianthealthimaging.com for the addresses to our satellite offices.

What do you think is one of the most important things for a woman to know when going into business for themselves?

Anyone can do this with the right attitude. It takes a good amount of determination to find the resources to succeed by getting out there talking to people and asking questions. But if you persevere, it gets more and more rewarding with each new person you meet.

Are there any tips you would like to share about balancing life and work?

Don’t forget to nourish or reward yourself for your hard work. If you give up your family, friends, or other passions you will have regrets. For some it takes a specific schedule to include the fun. Be gentle if you go overboard here or there and just start again. Guilt can be debilitating, so don’t let it! Just move forward.

Do you have any upcoming things (promotions, events, etc) you would like to let us know about? We always feature a buddy promotion. If you come with a friend to your appointment, you receive $10 off a breast scan or $25 off a full body scan. We have couples who take advantage of this special.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Life is a string of miracles waiting to happen. We just have to recognize that they can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time.

Kim Landry-Ayres: Mission Accomplished

My name is Kim Landry-Ayres. I am the creator of Mission Accomplished Personal Training Studio of Eau Claire. I am a nutritionist with a B.S. degree in Dietetics. I’ve been awarded national Personal Training certifications through the Cooper Institute of Aerobic Research and the American Council on Exercise, with specialty recognition in Strength Training. I am a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher and I am certified through the National Dance Exercise Instructors Training Association for Group Fitness Instruction, Kickboxing and Pilates (also certified with PHI for Pilates Equipment Instruction).

Fitness has been my profession for almost 2 decades. My experience, which ranges from work as a nutritionist and trainer,  to competing and attaining Pro status in the sport of natural body building, deeply affects the way I work with my clients. We work together to achieve reasonable health & fitness goals. If you need a push, I can and will give you a push. However, I have learned that there is a lasting difference between pushing someone to fitness and guiding them to fitness. If fitness is your mission, I hope you will consider Mission Accomplished as your guide. My favorite part of what I do is giving clients the tools and the confidence they need to have success in reaching their fitness goals. We’re in the business of “enhancing lives through fitness & nutrition”, and I try to “walk the talk” and set a respectable example for my clients, in finding balance in all aspects of my life and taking care of myself, mind, body & spirit.

At Mission Accomplished we offer many services including fitness and nutrition consultation and program development, personal training, group fitness classes, boxing, yoga and Pilates, massage therapy (chair, table & Thai), plus various Boot Camps, workshops, retreats and educational seminars. We also offer a variety of retail products such as Mission Accomplished logo’d clothing, fitness bands, Jay Robb nutritional supplements and our very own element nutrition bars (MuscleAccomplished & EnergyAccomplished).

If you’re interested in a “results-oriented”, individualized training experience, you can check out our website at www.kimayres.com or e-mail us at kim@kimayres.com or call us at the studio 715-831-0909.  We’re happy to answer any questions you have on any of our services.  You can call or e-mail to set up an appointment for a tour of the studio and get started on your very own fitness “Mission”….We’d love to help you get it “Accomplished”!

We ALWAYS have new promotions and events going on through the year, best way to stay on top of them is to get on our e-mail list or check the website for updates periodically.

In the meantime, visualize your success, give yourself room to grow, enjoy the journey, and BE the RESULTS you seek!

Alisha Koutney: Mission Accomplished

My name is Alisha Koutney. I work and train at Mission Accomplished Studio in Eau Claire. I am truly passionate about health and fitness and have the desire to help others create a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Being a multi-sport athlete and currently training & competing in natural bodybuilding competitions, I have experience setting and meeting fitness goals.  I have my degree in massage therapy through the Eau Claire PHD Academy and a National Personal Training Certification with SCW.

Exercising and training have played a substantial part of my life growing up because I enjoy it so much.  It keeps my metabolism & energy levels high, I eat better, sleep better, and my weight and body fat levels are healthy and lean.  I want to help others understand all the benefits of working out and staying active so I became a certified personal trainer.  I enjoy the atmosphere and the challenges each client brings through the door.  Whatever the goals and obstacles we have to overcome, the feeling of getting each individual to succeed is incredible.  Whether your goal is to lose weight, build muscle or endurance, get off certain medications, or compete in a specific sporting event, every single day you work at it, is a SUCCESS.  I love to see people meet goals they have set for themselves and watch as their bodies and lives transform.  In 2008, I wanted to challenge my mind and my body so I started training to compete in the sport of natural bodybuilding. This is one of the greatest things I have accomplished and look forward to doing again and again.

Judy Meinen: Angel Care Healing Touch

Tell us a little about yourself:
I founded Angel Care Healing Touch in 1997 and have been doing business since. Prior to that, I worked as an RN on the Pediatric wings of several area hospitals since 1985, and still maintain my RN license. I’m also a mother of four, with 3 grandsons.

What service or product do you offer?
Healing Touch, Reiki sessions and classes, Intuitive/psychic readings, Angel Therapy, Hypnosis, Biofeedback for Stress Analysis with the QXCI, wholistic health care and nutritional guidance.  Also, I do workshops and presentations on Angel Therapy, psychic readings, energy healing, etc.

What got you involved in your business and how long have you been involved?
I had been introduced to Healing Touch upon returning to the UWEC for advancing my nursing degree.  I took the first Healing Touch class offered through the UWEC  in 1997 and have been interested and involved in energy healing techniques and wholistic health care ever since.  I received a lot of helpful guidance for my life and was able to enjoy more peace of mind, pain relief (from migraines and back pain), and stress relief with the use of these techniques and the beneficial people involved in my learning process of Healing Touch, Reiki, tarot and angel card readings.

What is your favorite part of what you do?
Watching people learn, grow emotionally, and become empowered to be the most important person they know and improve their lives all around.

How would I go about obtaining your services or products?
Call us at 715-832-7250 for more information or to set an appointment and/or go to the website www.angelcarehealingtouch.com.  I will be holding a series of tarot classes once a month Feb. 17, March 17, and April 21 at the Altoona Community Room near the Library.  Feel free to stop in and pick up a brochure.  The Volume One, Second Opinion, and the Leader Telegram also have information on the classes I hold.

Do you have an office or storefront? If so, what are the hours the public is welcome?
Yes!  My new office is at 2130 Brackett Avenue, Suite B, Eau Claire, WI.  The Hubbell Eye Clinic is the building we are in along with Klug Chiropractic.  My office hours are Monday through Friday 9AM to 4PM by appointment only; I will do occasional Saturdays for a special fee.  I share the space with Massage Therapist Diana White and with Harmony Massage, owned by Anna Martinson.

What do you think is one of the most important things for a woman to know when going into business for themselves?
Be realistic about the length of time it takes to “make a profit.” Too many people go into business thinking they will be making money in a 3 month period of time.  It usually takes 3-5 YEARS (not months) to actually see that first dollar of profit.  Be patient and be educated on running a business – take classes at Western Dairyland (best thing I ever did!) and learn the basics of running a business; talk to other business women about how they got started, how much money they put into it and what amount of time and energy they put into making their business work in the first couple of years.  ALSO:  Make sure what you do for your business is something that you are absolutely passionate about – it should feel like playing instead of working.

Are there any tips you would like to share about balancing life and work?
Make yourself the most important person you know.  Make sure you are getting your needs met and are not overtired, exhausted, or feeling resentful about how much time you spend on your business vs. how much time you have for yourself.

Get your family involved in helping with your business as they are willing to:  just word of mouth advertising is more beneficial than you can imagine!  The family is usually pretty good at seeing the areas that need boosting or that aren’t working for you – LISTEN to them and adapt their ideas that you reasonably can.  Your family’s support is important to you and them.

I’m fortunate that my husband is the Administrative Assistant for Angel Care Healing Touch, he does a great job and we can easily talk about how our day went.  Don’t overbook yourself (got that feedback from my “secretary”) – schedule in your relaxation time the same way you schedule appointments and education time.  If you are getting tired, take a nap or just give yourself an extra 10 minutes to sit back and close your eyes.

Do you have any upcoming things (promotions, events, etc) you would like to let us know about?
On March 13, I will be hosting a Psychic Fair at the Ramada Convention Center, Eau Claire. There will be vendors, readers, healers, and also classes on Palmistry, Stone Healing, Animal Spirits, and Angels! I will be holding a series of tarot classes once a month Feb. 17, March 17, and April 21 at the Altoona Community Room near the Library.  I will be scheduling upcoming Reiki classes and will be planning my fall classes for Angel Therapy, Tarot card reading, Intuitive Guidance, Earth Angels, Pendulum use, etc.  I’m also looking for feedback from the public for what they would like to see me do classes on in the near future. All upcoming events are posted on my web page: http://www.angelcarehealingtouch.com

Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am currently taking classes through Clayton College for Natural Health towards my Masters of Science in Natural Health to better serve my QXCI and natural health clients as well as myself.  I’m excited to share any information on weight loss since I lost 135 lbs. between Jan. 28th, 2008 and August 10, 2009.  I’m feeling the best I have felt in years and really want to help others achieve their weight loss goals.  Weight Watchers is having Open House parties each Saturday in February and open (free) enrollments into April of this year.

Missy Ojibway-Machotka: Pleasant View B&B

Take a trip to Chippewa and learn a little about Missy!

About Me:

I have spent my entire life in the Chippewa Valley and I love it here!  I moved to Chippewa Falls in May 2009 to become the new innkeeper at Pleasant View Bed and Breakfast with my husband, Adam and our children, Zach and Megan.  Since our move here, we have discovered what a little diamond Chippewa Falls is!  There are so many things to see and do, we have become tourists in our own town.  It’s been wonderful to have the opportunity to meet all of the fine people in the area and experience all of the places we have never been!

My background is in restaurant and the hospitality industry.  After many years working as a chef and a manager, burn out started setting in and I decided it was time for a career change.  A few resumes later, I was working at my first B&B.  Within that year I met a wonderful lady named Jeanine Adams, who owns Pleasant View.  A few months later, Jeanine and her husband Mike asked us to be the innkeepers at their B&B.  The answer was a resounding “Yes!”

I could not imagine loving a job more than the one I have now.  I feel very fortunate to work with a great couple, and to have a career that encompasses all of the things that I love most…people, cooking, baking and talking!

I also contribute articles to Queen of the Castle Magazine, a passion of mine for over two years now!

What service do I offer:

At Pleasant View Bed and Breakfast, we offer a contemporary B&B experience.  Our five guest rooms have a unique themes, private bathrooms, all include a hot tub or fireplace (both in some rooms), four of the rooms offer views of the Lake Wissota and private access to the deck.  The evenings include a tour of the house, and refreshments and fresh baked cookies.  The mornings consist of a wake up tray with fresh baked treats brought directly to your room so that you can enjoy them in the privacy of your room, outside on the deck or in our lovely atrium.  Then breakfast arrives, either brought to your room or served in the dining room based on your preference.  I serve a full gourmet breakfast, so you had better be hungry!  My waffles and breakfast quiches have become commonly requested guest favorites.  I cook with local ingredients whenever possible!

If you are unfamiliar with the Chippewa Falls area, Pleasant Views atrium is a great place to relax and learn more.  The atrium is stocked with local restaurant menus, and brochures detailing all attractions around the B&B.  There is everything from performing arts, shopping in downtown, cheese factories, Olsens Ice Cream Shop, Leinenkugel’s Brewery tours, wineries, bike/snowmobile/ski/snowshoe trails within minutes of Pleasant View.

My Favorite Part:

Without a doubt, my favorite part of my job is all of the people that I get to meet!  We are lucky to have a variety of guest from all over the country and the world who choose to stay at Pleasant View.  Everyone from couples looking from a night alone together, people celebrating weddings/anniversaries, folks who are in town just touring the area, business travelers and everyone in between.  They share with us stories of their lives, fun things about them, interesting places they have been.  I truly could not ever dream of meeting better people at work!

Most important things for women to know:

Be knowledgeable in your field and surround yourself with supportive, positive people.

Balancing Life and Work:

At one point in my life I was working so much that my children starting calling me “The Lady Who Sleeps Here”.  That was an eye-opener!  I realized then, it was time for me to work smarter and not harder.  My ever present lists of things to do has been the biggest change I have made professionally.  It sounds simple, but that list is something I adhere to.  Checking things off and staying on task has been a huge help in balancing what needs to be done at work and being able to focus on my family when we are all together.

Upcoming Promotions and Events:

I update promotions and events on our Pleasant View Facebook page.  Become a fan and stay in the know!

Kelly Whitman: KelMarie Studios

Tell us a little about yourself:
I grew up in Southern Iowa.   At the age of 15 I moved to northern Wisconsin, where my love of photography was able to blossom from being in a town that sat along the beautiful shores of Lake Superior.   I currently reside in the small town of Rock Falls, just outside of Eau Claire with my husband Devon and two children, son Rayce (5) and daughter Camryn(1).
I really love anything that involves the outdoors!  Including, but of course not limited to; camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, cars, gardening, exploring and going on adventures and I never leave home without my camera!   I am a hard worker and don’t mind getting dirty from time to time, whether it’s working in the garden, playing with my son in the mud, working on home repairs or detailing cars.
Besides my photography business KelMarie Studios I also have a small detailing business, called “Detail Queen”.   I am also a staff photographer for the Queen of the Castle Magazine and also a contributing photographer for Volume One magazine.
I have a very strong faith, believe in paying it forward and love helping others in need.

What service or product do you offer?
I offer photography for every occasion; Parties, birthdays, reunions, soldier’s homecoming, maternity, babies, family, engagements, events, weddings, business, & prints. I can customize a photo session just for you and your family and I am located in the small town of Rock Falls just outside of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I love to take my clients into the beautiful outdoors and capture them in their natural settings. I look at every photo session as a little adventure of it’s own!
I also offer boat, car, truck & bike detailing; Hand wash, hand dry, hand wax and vacuum.   For the automotive enthusiasts I have a unique package called “The Detail Queen Plus” that combines both my photography business + detailing business together, and you can have your vehicle detailed + photographed!

What got you involved in your business and how long have you been involved?
I have always had an eye for the outdoors, nature and photography, but never imagined I would be where I am today-pursuing it! I photographed my first wedding in February of this year and then shortly after I became a staff photographer for The Queen of the Castle Magazine, and recently a contributing photographer for Volume One magazine.

As far as Detailing goes, I love cars and have always loved cleaning my car, so I thought why not clean other peoples’ cars too!

What is your favorite part of what you do?
The flexibility to be able to stay home with my children and work when it is convenient for me. Also I have recently started using my photography business to encourage others to give, and also as a way to help the area communities in different ways.

Jody Hagedorn

Meet Jody Hagedorn – Holistic Diva!

Jody Hagedorn

Tell us a little about yourself:
Jody Hagedorn prefers her organically grown eggs and life, sunny-side up! Childhood summers were spent with family and friends, swimming, water skiing, & boating on the Chippewa River and the Mighty Mississippi. Cuddling babies & ‘furred ones’ at a very young age became a favorite, and that past time carried into adulthood with a passion for nurturing people, plants, and animals along with the land. A believer of ‘Home is where the Heart is’- Jody has created a haven for all…welcomed, supported & nourished, Chicken soup for the soul; mind or eating kind. Her enthusiasm, humor, and love are contagious to all who cross her path. As a wife and mom for over 30 years, Jody cherishes time with her husband, friends, and three grown sons. Time up North searching for the perfect agate, propagating perennials in the backyard Reflexology Path and Garden, camping, cooking/hostessing guests & a good ol’ belly laughing movie are what she values most in the ‘hobby’ world. When thinking about what matters most, Jody may answer ‘the miracles that happen daily, when we are full of gratitude and love.’

What products and services do you offer?

My passion is sharing information with anyone who is seeking to improve their health and life with natural methods of healing. The most requested and effective are individual and group sessions of Reflexology, Reiki, EFT (emotional freedom technique), & Raindrop Therapy. A successful combination includes a series of 5 sessions beginning with EFT to remove the negative emotions under physical conditions. Second appointment may be Reflexology or Reiki to relax and calm, and the consecutive sessions are to follow up on whatever may come up as we process through the layers.  Of course, as the customer, you are free to choose for your sessions to be tailored to your specific needs… I’m here to gently guide you through the process.

What got you involved in your business and how long have you been involved?

24 years ago after a second c-section, I was introduced to Reflexology and immediately knew that natural methods of healing were a possibility. Bless everyone’s feet since then, as I have been on that path enthusiastically ever since. I LOVE the holistic approach to healing and am very thankful for all of the teachers along the way who so lovingly shared their talents and gifts!

What is your favorite part of what you do?
Seeing the response of a customer when they consciously shift from negative to positive.  ‘AHA’ moments are my absolute favorite!  This ‘work’ has actually become a way of life… No longer what ‘I do’…simply who I am! Second would be the flexibility of hours.  It’s been very rewarding to attend all of our son’s events over the years and we look forward to attending our grandchildren’s events as well.

How would I go about obtaining your services or products?
“Ask any mermaid you happen to see,” kidding.  Actually, word of mouth is awesome and extremely effective for this business.   Ideally, google Jody Hagedorn-I’m feeling lucky and my website appears. Realistically, 715-834-0883. I do recommend that if you ARE looking for services from holistic practitioners, ask around, you’ll be amazed at the answers you receive.

Do you have an office or storefront? If so, what are the hours the public is welcome?

The lower level of our home is the ‘transformation/relaxation’ center. Sessions are by appointment Monday through Friday from 10am-4pm with an occasional Saturday.  We’re educating the public on the importance of taking time for yourself during the day.  Other countries utilize Reflexology as their main healing modality.  Lunch hours are spent walking on Reflexology mats instead of having a coke and doughnut. www.jodyhagedorn.com for more info on how you can drastically improve your vitality.  See you soon!

What do you think is one of the most important things for a woman to know when going into business for themselves?

First, choose something you absolutely LOVE, and decide how to make money doing it.  Second, be specific on what you want, intend it like it was already there, and then do it! Third, see it as a way of life, not something you ‘have to do’, if it feels like a chore, choose again!  Be who you really are, when you are content and shining your light, those around you are apt to desire happiness too!

Are there any tips you would like to share about balancing life and work?

Be true to yourself. ‘Me first’ is good mental health! (I learned this the hard way with a few breakdowns!) I used to think placing myself first was selfish, then I learned-the better care I took of myself, the more energy I had to positively give others. Think of the ‘oxygen mask’ theory…the flight attendant on an airplane describes the oxygen mask scenario and says, if in crisis, place the oxygen mask on yourself, and THEN on the person next to you.  In other words, it is necessary to BREATHE first and then help others to breathe.  Brilliant!

Do you have any upcoming things (promotions, events, etc) you would like to let us know about?
We’ve added a 2 person infrared sauna in the second healing room. Complete with vibrantly colored ‘Jamaica-like’ walls.  Uplifting and a total healing experience with Reflexology, Reiki, or Raindrop Therapy.  Through December 20th, you’ll receive 20 minutes FREE in the sauna when combined with a 40 minute session of Reflexology! Wrap yourself in the warmth of infrared heat..ummmm.

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Gratitude for the opportunity to share a piece of my life and how we live here. I am blessed beyond measure to be walking (skipping, dancing and singing) here on this wonderful planet beside some of the most amazing people of all time. Call me to share your stories, and schedule a session for some fun!  I look forward to meeting you and sharing time together…soon!

What service or product do you offer?

I provide all lines of insurance products from homeowners, automobile, motorcycle, renters, ATV, wedding insurance, business liability, property, workers compensation, business automobile, both individual & group life and health insurance. Really there is nothing that I cannot write.

I am very proud of the fact that I am only one of two Independent Insurance Agencies in the Chippewa Valley that is owned by a woman.

What got you involved in your business and how long have you been involved?

I got started in the insurance industry in 1995. I actually just stumbled onto a position that was open in a small family owned independent agency. I have worked for other independent agencies and decided in April of 2009 to take the plunge and open my own agency.

In August, my business won honorable mention in the Jumpstart Downtown Business Plan Contest. I am very pleased with the recognition that my business has gotten because of it.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

Working with all types of people and businesses and helping people. There isn’t anything that is the same from day to day, every account seems to give me a new look or challenge.

How would I go about obtaining your services or products?

Call me at 715-379-3904 or email me at kori@irokinsurance.com or visit my website at www.irokinsurance.com

Do you have an office or storefront? If so, what are the hours the public is welcome?

Yes, I am located in Porter Place: 914 Porter Ave., Eau Claire. One block southwest of the YMCA downtown. I tend to be in and out of the office quite a bit, so it is best to call and make an appointment.

What do you think is one of the most important things for a woman to know when going into business for themselves?

Women owned businesses are becoming more and more frequent. I have found that a lot of people prefer to do business with women. You need a good support system and a plan in place to ensure your success. Don’t hesitate to ask people for help!

Are there any tips you would like to share about balancing life and work?

I don’t think there is a balance when you first start your business. I typically have been working 50-60 hours a week since I started my business. It’s tough but I know in the long run it will be worth it and hopefully next year it will be feasible to hire an employee or two. I think the main thing to keep in mind and in focus is that life is short…don’t put off today what you might not get the opportunity to do tomorrow.

Do you have any upcoming things (promotions, events, etc) you would like to let us know about?

I will be having my official ribbon cutting sometime in the month of November. Please watch for details via. Downtown Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Chamber.
